Qognify makes sense out of video data

1/03/2017

After watching high-tech thrillers on TV and in films, it’s understandable that we would assume video surveillance is used primarily by law enforcement and public security agencies. And while that’s probably true, we should be prepared to be watched more often and more thoroughly by commercial enterprises.

The video cameras that now dot the walls and ceilings of convenience stores are likely to be more common in and outside of office buildings, retail stores and any other establishment where the owners take security and safety seriously.

Qognify is a service that helps organizations mitigate risk, maintain business continuity, and optimize operations. Among the tools the company uses are video surveillance systems that not only collect but also analyze image data. On the company’s website, Qognify explains why mounting a few video cameras is not the same as having a security plan:

Because today’s security, safety and operations agencies are being deluged by increasing volumes of internal and external data from a growing network of unconnected sources. Organizations need to be able to bring all this data together, not only to ensure they can always see the big picture, but also to help them take proactive control over their risk management.

Qognify says its video management and video and data analytics programs are used in a variety of industries that include financial institutions, transportation agencies, airports, seaports, utility companies and city centers and also deployed as part of the security plans for many of the world’s highest-profile public events.
