Website tracks tech prices for shoppers in India

12/13/2016

It doesn’t matter whether you live in Boston, Barcelona or Bangalore, everybody loves finding a sweet price on a new mobile phone or laptop computer. In India, bargain hunters are checking out a service called iSpyPrice to compare prices on thousands of products.

The iSpyPrice maintains a website that tracks and posts current prices posted by more than 100 online merchants that serve the Indian market. The service finds the lowest price for each product and tags the most attractive listing with its “Best Buy” label.

One example is the recent listings for the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime phone, which was released this summer. Prices on the iSpyPrice list ranged from 16,900 Rs. to 18,791 Rs. with the offering from Amazon India getting the site’s “Best Buy” endorsement.

Customers can browse the site’s listings that are grouped by different categories.  Mobile phones, tablets, laptops and cameras are the hot items on the site, which also tracks prices for home appliances, personal care items and televisions.

Many of the brand names such as Dell, Lenovo, Canon and LG will be familiar to tech shoppers in the US. Others, like Xiaomi, iBall, Datawind and LYF not so much.

Shoppers can choose to be notified when prices for a selected product changes and they can set a price alert for a product they are tracking. For a closer look, visit the iSpyPrice website and get news about new gadgets in the iSpyPrice blog.
