Pinar offers VPNs for Iranians

If you don’t want hackers or government agencies to know what you do on the Internet, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a good way to keep your online activities private. A VPN creates a secure layer or “tunnel” within the public Internet to keep data out of reach of hackers or monitors.

In Iran, VPN use is supposed to be against the law, but that doesn’t stop people, including government officials, from doing it. In March, an online news site published a screen grab from the Iranian foreign minister’s Twitter feed showing it came through a VPN.

Websites such as Pinar VPN offer private network services marketed specifically to Iranians. The site offers subscribers access to VPN tools including L2TP, Kerio, PPTP and others. The VPN  service can be used with smartphones, tablets and computers running popular operating systems such as Windows, Linux, MacOS and Android.

The Pina VPN website also promises 24-hour support by telephone or email and a refund if users aren’t satisfied.
