Notebook Defence revives a fun table game

8/06/2014

When video games arrived, we were quick to abandon table games, some of which were actually pretty cool. I liked the game Battleship, which two people could play with pencils and a couple sheets of paper.

Another strategy game played on paper is Notebook Defence. Like Battleship, you choose locations on your opponents battlefield to target with your artillery.

Now developer Vladislav Zhirnov has brought the game into the 21st Century with a free version that you can play on the Apple iPad. Tanks and infantry fight it out on game boards that mimic blue-lined graph paper. When you want to take a trip back to school days, download the game at the iTunes store.
