YouTube channel welcomes debate about Huawei

5/18/2016

Huawei is a high-flying global technology brand, but not one you see very often as a big player in consumer electronics in the U.S. That could change as the company’s mobile phones, tablets, smart watches and other devices begin to arrive in larger quantities at gadget stores and in online catalogs.

Huawei’s sometimes controversial history will arrive along with its products. Over the past few years, the Shenzhen-based company has been accused of industrial espionage and copyright infringement by tech companies in the U.S. and other countries. And government officials in America, Great Britain and elsewhere have argued that Huawei should be excluded from supplying telecommunication gear for government projects in part because of the company’s close ties to the Chinese government.

To counter the unfavorable publicity, a Huawei former employee and current advocate has created a YouTube channel and website that specializes in news commentary about Huawei. Channel Huawei is not affiliated with the company and it posts videos that are both supportive and critical of the company.

“We give a voice to everyone, anywhere in the world,” said the channel’s founder. “Get unique news commentary and consumer complaints, as well as insider insights from Huawei employees.”

The videos serve as a focal point for the spirited and open discussion that takes place in the comments section below each clip. Channel Huawei is a good place to learn more about a major player in the global technology world and to share questions and opinions about the company.
