New smartphone from Italy is making noise in Europe

10/07/2015

Market research reports list global giants Samsung and LG among the most popular mobile phone brands in Italy but a new homegrown phone is starting to gain traction in Italy and other European countries.

The Piò Ira 3 Plus smartphone has the specs to run with the big boys. It runs the latest version of Google’s Android operating system, a 5.5-inch high-resolution screen, and 16GB of memory that can be expanded up to 64GB with an SD card.

Like the best smartphones, the Ira 3 has dual cameras: a Sony-made 13.3-megapixel camera with LED flash on the backside and a 5-megapixel camera on the front that also has a flash for selfies after dark.

Travelers will appreciate the dual SIM slot and support for 2G, 3G and 4G LTE data services. The phone costs 389 € and can be ordered through the Piò Italia website.

The company is located in Fasano in Southern Italy where the phones are distributed and supported. Buyers can take advantage of  free training courses, offered in various locations, to teach them how to use the phones.
