It turns out here is such a thing, or soon will be. It's called the PancakeBot and it allows you to "print" pancakes into just about any design you can imagine. It's like a 3D printer, but it squirts batter instead of plastic.
The device was developed by Miguel Valenzuela who was inspired by a pancake stamping machine he read about in Maker magazine and prodded by his two young daughters who were convinced that papa could also make a pancake machine.
The PancakeBot uses software to tracing any image on your computer to produce machine control commands. As the griddle artist, you control what lines are drawn first and that determines the shading of the pancake.

The PancakeBot got the attention of the press when it was shown last year at Maker Faires in California and at the White House. Now it's the focus of a funding campaign at Kickstarter where Storebound is hoping to raise $50,000 to put the machine into mass production.
